Energizer NIMH 2500 Batteries

MJP (IL)

New member
Been using 16 of these for about 9 months. Lately they seem to be fading on me. I've had 5 in the last month fail to hold their recharge for more than a couple hours. Three recharge all the way, but when I go to use them, they lose their power quickly. The other 2 won't even recharge anymore. I thought maybe one of the charger slots wasn't working, but they all tested out fine.

Curious - What is your experience with the lifetime of these Energizer 2500 NIMH batteries?

Mike

Mike I have had similar problems with my 2200 Mah batteries. I recharged them and measured each voltage, some were lower than others, I think some might be going bad and can't supply he current. I had several battery problems in the woods, I scraped the connections on the pack, and the batteries, it made no difference. I retired those batteries and just bought the Energizer 2500 Mah batteries, and I keep an extra battery pack with me with Alkalines to switch out. Jeff

I've had a set for two trips now. They seem to do mch better than the ones Minelab supplied. I hope they don't fail too. I am careful not to charge them too much.

The name of the game for rechargeables seems to be the CHARGER. There are some good posts already on the forums, so I will not go into the details, but a GOOD charger, one that disscharges and recharges and conditions the batteries will make for a much longer life of very good charges. Expect to pay around $70 for a good charger. If you can, get a universal one, I have even seen some that you can adjust the contact points on to fit your battery case contacts so you dont have to take em out. Also one of the "S" battery companys (Sanyo I think) has a new style Metal/Hyd. battery that is supposed to be exceptionally good. Hope this helps.
