Hi, all:
A small town near where I live opened a new football stadium about five years ago. The old football field is now used as a practice facility for the high school team. I have hunted several other football fields and have always had success finding coins in the end zones. That's where the bands usually set up during a game. So, naturally I headed for this "old" field to try my luck with my ATGold. I found over five dollars in loose change along with a silver religious medal. No older coins. I usually don't hunt in the field itself because the grounds keepers are quite protective of their "turf". This being a practice field I may give it a shot.
Back in the '80's Southwest Missouri State University installed astroturf on their football field. They allowed metal detectors on the field for a brief period during the renovation. I found a gold class ring in the end zone and at the center of the playing field I found a Barber half dollar. Have no idea why such an old coin was lost there.
Thanks for looking and keep on diggin'
