Enamel & stones

Found this strange object at a fairgrounds. At first it appeared to be solid gold ... however, with a strong magnet, it will react ... so it must have a iron base. I placed it beside a penny so you can tell the size.

It is plated in gold with a bronze enamel front. Even though it appears to be bent, it actually was made as two pieces solidly joined together. There are three ginger colored stones at the top of the outside piece and three
more stones that sit inside of the back piece.

It almost looks like a false fingernail but with the stones on the inside of the back piece, you wouldn't want to put it on your finger. Have you ever seen anything like this?

My first instinct is to suggest an earring that's missing some parts. That's such an odd shape for anything other than jewelry.

I believe that you are right about it being jewelry ... sure wish I had a better handle on exactly what ... it reminds me of a gypsy/fortune teller fingernail but I can't understand why there are gemstones on the inside lip of the thing.

Thanks for your input ... Sheldon

Thanks, HH and Floyd ... I'm afraid that your guesses are as good as mine .... maybe better. I'll try to find out if it has any monetary value.
