emergency mxt repair

I posted this on another portion of the forum, but thought it might be helpful here, too. The other day the plastic "bolt" that holds the coil to the lower rod broke on my MXT. I usually keep spares, but this time I didn't have one! I went to ACE hardware (although other brands will probably work!) and bought a package of plastic toilet seat hinge bolts--ACE #45438, and they matched the old broken bolt and nut almost perfectly! All I had to do is cut off a little of the end with a hacksaw. I'm not recommending these as permanent replacements, as the factory ones are best, but they sure will get you back out in the field in a pinch! Jack.

Good to know. Some hardware outlets also stock regular synthetic (nylon or whatever) in most sizes including those that fit coil mounts as well.
