that was a very hard landing...I 'm surprised the body of the plane didn't come apart and catch on fire. That pilot sure knew what he was doing!:yo:

He is also real good at reacting quickly.

No this isn't some fancy edit job. He uses his aileron as a rudder to control the rolling that naturally occurs when a wing pops off. Those stunt planes have huge ailerons...

And if you notice, he is doing "knife edge" flight just before he flips left, shuts down his power and flops down on his wheels just a few feet off the ground.

"Knife edge" is not using the main wings for lift, but the fuselage, so he could still fly as long as he had power. Flopping and twisting up high was OK because he still had altitude. As he got lower, he needed other ways to stay flying, and that's where knowing about all the other sufaces of his plane came in handy.

Those little stunt planes can actually "Hover" like a helicopter on just the power from the engine and the prop, so he had all kinds of juice to work with.

A plane will fly as long as all aspects of flight are maintained. Lift, gravity, power and drag all have to be accounted for. If he was in any other plane but that little stunt job, he'd be mashed all over the ground.

We lived near a small local airport. I witnessed a Cessna doing loops and stunts that It wasn't designed for. During a loop it had a wing shear off and it fell in a flat spin all the way to the ground. When you try to fly without a wing...gravity wins.
