Elliptical lower rod coil bracket

Old California

New member
Really like the elliptical coil, both land and water. I've never experienced a detector as sensitive as the Deus using Target ID with discrimination with high frequencies as the elliptical.

One problem I'm experiencing, and I seen this on Gary's video his Deus kept falling over when he was running a target in his hand across the coil. XP needs to make a better detector stand to help keep the Deus upright when using the elliptical coil. Or, remount the lower rod more to the center of coil. This raises up the lower handle portion, keeping it from tipping over.

Just tossed this together this morning, temporary lower rod coil bracket. It repositions the lower rod to center of elliptical coil, I like it. Will make another one but will add a protective piece to cover battery cable so nothing can snag on the cable. Plus, I'll construct the bracket so it snaps over the coil ears. Warranty will not be affected, snap on snap off.

Will enclose two pictures, one with coil bracket one without. Without the coil bracket, it tips over. Will share additional pictures when final bracket is completed, Hopefully next weekend off.

Love the HF elliptical, hopefully XP will come out with a taller detector stand or add on coil bracket.

Get a piece of 4" ABS and cut out about a 3/4" section then cut it in half and heat it with a heat gun or good blow dryer until you have shaped it into a bigger better stand. A couple of cable ties later , you are done.

What Deus needs to design is an anti-tipping coil cover. It needs to be extended a bit and flared out on the bottom. Just snap it on like a regular coil cover.

Or just shove the machine ahead so the coil goes flat on the ground. "Handfull" testing still works just as well on top of the coil. When done just stand up and push the coil to the proper angle.

I just use the Nokta Impact fold out stand, and padded out the shaft for a good fit (due to the abnormal shape of the clamp). Not sure if the Makro Racer version of the stand will fit as well (round clamp), might also be worth a try. Despite the top of the clamp on the Impact version intruding into the arm space, I find it does not interfere with the bottom of my arm. You could mount it even further forward for more clearance, though I just didn't want the stand ends protruding forward from the handgrip. It's not perfect, though seems to do a good job .

9" coil and I am sure all others the lowest point is where I put the little half pipe and there's even a screw there to hold it in place and as the song goes "paint it black" and its finished and works

I saw some ready made to fit ones on flea bay a few months back, about £5.

I made my own about 2 years back using alloy and then spraying it black.. Jerry.
