Elite - XS2pro performance question..............

WillyP

New member
Have hunted with an Elite for about four years l and love it. I hunt with many good hunters that still use the XS2 pro and I'm curious what changes were made
when Minelab brought out the Elite and were they positive changes? My buddies tell me the XS2 is a slightly deeper more sensitive machine and that's
why they never changed. Is this true? Thanks for your help.

They are all good detectors and some like one over another. I have tried them all being I sell them and some I like more than the others for my hunting. I learned on the XS and felt once I knew it it was great. Got the XS2 and it had the 10 inch BBS coil on it and felt I didn't do as well as I could with the 8 inch coinsearch coil, so I bought a coinsearch coil and used on the XS2. I liked this detector with the 8 inch coinsearch and it is the one I dug those deep coins in that park I have posted before. I tried the XS2a and thought it was good, but I didn't need that single tone switch it had. When I got the Elite I like the battery set up much better and the new mounting bracket, but hated the control set up as it was different than any of the others before and was always grabbing the wrong control. Now one thing I did notice right away is the targets sounded deeper than the actually were and thought it was just the site, but seen it everywhere I went. The new Tornado coil was great and much better than the BBS coils in my opinion and thought maybe this is why the targets sounded deeper then they were. I cant say I dug anything as deep as I did with the XS2, but I may not have went over any. Now I have the GT which has the controls back where they belong and find this Sovereign is the most sensitive of them all as many that know the Sovereigns will tell you they just have a little more zip to them. With the GT it seems to false on iron a little more, but once you know it you can tell the difference in most cases. I find I can get better ID on the meter too with the GT on the deeper coins than any of the other Sovereigns.
This is my opinion on them and in order the way I Like them. The GT the best, the XS2 the next one, the XS, The XS2a the Elite and last the original Sovereign, but all will do the job and all are good, just prefer some over the others for my hunting.
