Elite........At the beach

Hello, and thanks to all who are trying to help me. Took the advise and hit the beach this weekend. Thought I was in heaven as the dozers were pushing the dunes back up after the fall hurricanes. Wow, virgin sand and no one here but me, i thought to myself. Well, the targets were few and far between. I think the dozers pushed all the goodies into the new dunes.I can't get my meter to go more than 524-525 on a US quarter. Is it a big deal that I can't zero it at 550? Will it kill all my other target reading that i am trying to make notes of and learn from other posts and advise? All advise and help is appreciated. This is my first machine and i have 23 miles of beach i can hunt every weekend. I know i need lots of time and practice, that is fine. But most of you have forgot more than i know. Keep the tips comin...thanks, Rod

I would recomend you have your meter recalibrated to 180 its much easier to operate that way IMO......but as is it should be able to get 550 on a quarter....is it new or used?

like stated, dig it all on the beach! For your meter, I had the same problem. Mine would not calibrate past about 535. I ultimaltey ended up calibrating it to the 180 scale. Made a huge difference. Always go by tones first, use the meter as a secondary if you need a second opinion (for land hunting)
