ELITE 2200 ANY HELP

does anyone have any reviews or tips with the Elite 2200. I am new to detecting and just trying to figure everything out.

any problems with the depth meter not being accurate. And just wondering if it works good for finding gold.

The depth meter is OK for coin sized objects. It may overstate the depth a bit.

"Gold" comes in may percentages of purity. "Gold" falls in the nickel-pulltab-zinc range. If you want gold, you will have to dig one hell of a lot of junk. That is true with all metal detectors, not just the Elite 2200.

I was wondering if anyone has had an elite 2200 and if it will accually find gold. I was reading on another site and found that you have to have a specific detector for gold.

Any detector could find gold. If you are asking about finding tiny nuggets, there are several (expensive) machines designed specially for that. As far as finding rings, jewelry or coins, you can find them with any machine if you are willing to dig lots of pull tabs, bottle caps, foil and junk.

I have found gold jewelery with my BH 202. It is very similar to your machine.

Mark is right about gold as well. Depending on the size of the object, gold will hit in a huge range on the discrimination scale. A gold earring for example will come in very low on the scale, whereas a ten dollar gold coin will hit as high as a quarter silver coin. The lower the object hits on the discrimination scale the more common targets there are in that range. If you use very little or no discrimination, you will see just how much junk is out there.

Hope this helps, Dave

I haven't gone looking for gold nuggets yet. Although there have been isolated findings of gold in Washington state, it has not been anything compared to Oregon, California or Idaho. I do hope someday to try areas that have produced gold.
