Can someone send me a link on building a electrolysis machine please. The more links the better too. Thanks to all who try and help!

I've used an auto battery charger quite a few times. You need one that will go from full to just trickle charge. Use 6v. trickle to start. I've got a large tupperware container (I think it was a cake cover) with a big piece of stainless steel. Use distilled water about 3-4 spoons salt and about two spoons of lemon juice. Hook the item to be cleaned to the - stainless steel piece to + Move the items further apart if cleaning action is too much.

Get good quality alligator clips, and try to keep them out of the solution. Another thing I learned is to move the clip on the item being cleaned so you dpn't end up with bad spot where the clip was. Used it to clean up a toy cast metal car that was about 12" long & 5 or 6" high.

Total cost should be less than $25 if you shop at the thrift store for your cantainer & possibly the charger.

Tupperware $ .25
Stainless steel knives or spoons 4 for $ 1,00
Charger (Walmart) $21.99

Hope that helps!

Hey man thanks for the help. I have got this 10lb shell I need to clean but just have not gotten around to it yet. I'm a little nervous about it cause it is still live. I have been told that doing electrolysis on it will not hurt anything but I am just not familiar with the process and I want to do it right and have it turn out nice. I have used it a little on some real small stuff but nothing this big. I was just using a little 9v plug in deal and it worked OK. Thanks for the info and anymore info you may have send it to me

For what it is worth I would not place an electrical charge on a live munition, regardless of the age. Be careful, you don't want to get hurt plus lose your relic.
