Electrolosys on a few recent silvers...

Johnny Cache

New member
Got the ol' electrolosys rig out today, zapped a few common date heavily corroded silvers. I found the 1920 dime last night, yet another silver from my sweet spot. It's in really good shape, love it when the details are crisp.

wow those look really nice all cleaned up.

That 1920 is in Nice condition.
Now if it had only been a 1921:yikes:

Nice results, JC. What are you using for a power source? I've killed a couple of transformers, then bought a car battery charger, but it was too 'smart'. Maybe an old-fashioned car battery charger?

Marcomo, thanks, I like not letting the coins get too clean looking. I like when the details are easy to see, but the coin still has some "dug" characteristics. Also don't want the coin to start to dissolve lol.

William-NM, I just use an adapter similar to this one, split the wires and add the alligator clips. I only let the coins zap for 1 or 2 minutes, and it has never burned out on me.

Interesting - I think my last one was a 19 volt DC - I see yours is a 12v AC - I'll give that a try, thanks!
