Electrical Transmission lines

I tried detecting right under a electrical transmission tower yesterday. What a joke it took all of about 20 seconds before I gave up. The machine went berserk. Here is what I am wondering can that kind of abuse on the detector fry the circuits? Thanks for reading...Z

hi z, i don't know about frying your circuits, but i found out real quick that there's a lot less interference at night than during the day when hunting near powerlines. if you can hunt the area in late evening or night, it will help. there's more demand for power during the day. hh,
