electrical chatter: how to de-tune it

Got the Deus and took it out in the yard and as soon as I turned it on I had electrical chatter. Just a lot of little chirps and the coil was in the air as well as on the ground. I couldn't figure out how to get that to go away. I was using the first program, basic 1. I have a CTX3030 and when I get that kind of interference I can do a noise cancel and turn it out but don't know how to do the with the Deus.
I tried a search for this but came up short.
thanks in advance

Just a guess...but your yard might have electrical wires causing interference. Try turning down the sensitivity.

If problem continues even well away from power lines you could have a bad coil.

The Deus is a rather sensitive machine but you should not get signals up in the air.

there aren't any electrical lines in the yard that I know of. if I went to basic 2 program the chatter stopped so there must be some setting that I can use to stop the chatter. when I dropped the sens the chatter got quieter but was still there as if all the sens was doing was turning the volume down.

I posted a vid someplace on here can not remember where, but one of your settings is to high....

First ensure your coil is in air and not near anything metal, then turn on. Get good bround balance. Could have underground interference. Sens could be to high...Wish I could find the video I posted it shows you what to do....

Thanks Jim.. I will work on that and let you know... I appreciate the input...

Sometimes you need to take what the detector Gods allow you to have. Usually a chatty Deus can be corrected with a change in freqency, lowering the reactivity or upping the discrimination a couple of numbers. All or a combination of these things. What is nice about the Deus is you can usually find a stock program to work.

Lowering the reactivity level will help. Usually dropping from 3 to 2 will do the trick.
If you don't want to lower reactivity, then try a frequency change or a combination of both.

Since the chattering stopped in Basic 2, my first recommendation is to use 8K freq in your yard...that should stop most, if not all the chattering. For whatever reason, your yard doesn't like 12K. If switching to 8K doesn't completely resolve the problem, lower sensitivity--Basic 1 uses 90 and Basic 2 uses 80...that's a significant difference. You'll find this dynamic just about anywhere you go...and because the Deus is so versatile, you'll be able to make simple modifications to ease the chattering if the Deus is chattering at these sites.
