Electric lines

My daughter and her family live on a pretty old piece of property. Unfortunately there's a pretty big section that has a triangle of very low power lines circling it. When I try to use my Bandito ii umax I get all kinds of chatter.

What's the solution? Is there one? I'm afraid to turn down the sensitivity too much cause I'm not sure what I'll be missing.

Thanks in advance!

Doug

I have hunted some fairgrounds with (fairly big voltage) buried power lines. The Cortes made a lot of constant noise, but surprisingly still worked alright through the feedback. It did get very tiring listening through the noise though.

pleased with what you might find. Make sure the search coil is near the ground when you evaluate any EMI (Electromagnetic Interference) and not held in the air. With the search coil near the ground and the GB set properly, use the most (highest) Sensitivity you can while still remaining relatively stable.

If it calls for a reduction in Sensitivity, then yes, you'll sacrifice some depth of detection, but 'dept' isn't everything. Who knows how deep good targets might be at that location? Get what you can when you can. Also, try working the property at different times of the day (or night) and see if there are any better times than others.

Good luck!

Thank you for the good advice. I found out this morning that there is a LOT of buried trash on the property....they use to just bury the garbage. The property has been lived on since maybe the 1930's or so. I guess my task is to separate the wheat from the chaff.. :)
