Eldorado

No, not the Legendary City, the Detector. I just made a deal with a fella for one. Talked to him on the phone and he says he bought it new from the Factory in Scottsdale when he was living there. Says he has the original receipt, manual and paperwork for it and that it only has about 5 hours use on it. So, is this one that will work at all for gold nuggets? I thought when i made the deal that it was basically an older version of the Vaquero but after i got off the phone with him i looked it up on the Tesoro sight and i guess it only operates at 10Khz instead of the 14 Khz like i thought. But i still think it should work somewhat well at least since it does have ground balance and threshold. If not i may see if anyone would be interested in it on a trade for a Vaquero, or maybe a Garrett Scorpion or Fisher Gold Bug SE.
So now that i already made the deal, what is one of them worth?

The Eldorado I had was an awesome detector. I hunted with a fellow using a minelab and everytime he found a signal he would call me over and ask if I heard it, which I would unplug my phones and let him see that I did. I had a couple targets that he couldn't hear. Those Eldorados are great machines. I am not sure of price but I sold mine for 250.00 several years ago.

This is the original Eldorado not the plastic box Umax style. But from what i have read they were a good detector. Will see.

I just bought the original eldorado last built in 1991 I think. I paid 250.00 for mine. Maybe a little overpriced but mint condition!!!! This is what I chose because I couldnt afford a lobo super traq. This detector is so well made and you can hip mount it. Finds small gold too! Stay away from garret scorpion!!!!!! My daughter bought one new and not even fourty seasoned shooters could get the hunk of junk to stay ground balanced for more than two steps. If you are in even the slightest mineral area forget it! Stay with the eldorado and you might even sleep in bed with it next to you and let it ride shotgun.I love mine!

G&Sgal, have you used yours for nugget hunting? Will it find match head sized gold at over 2" deep? I may just hang on to this one for a while if it will work for small nuggets as well as coins and jewelry. Sounds like you really like yours a lot. Not sure i want to sleep with mine though.
