Eldorado versus Bandido II uMax

Hi,

I am getting back into detecting and never really spent any time with a Tesoro machine, though I owned for a short bit a EuroSabre. On the used market I have seen some Eldorado and Bandido II uMaxs that seem to run about the same price. They look very similar from their controls. The Specs show the Bandido a little bit lighter of the 2, it would be great to swing a light machine for a change, I have owned a Minelab xs2a pro, Whites IDX Pro, Garrett Groundhog and a Nautilus DMC machines so these all were quite a bit heavier. I will detect mostly in city parks for lack of having much luck in the past of obtaining permission for good relic sites so coinshooting and the occassional minnie ball find is what I hope to go after. Live in Eastern TN with highly mineralized soil common place. Any comments and or reviews or tips on these two machines that could help me decide would be great! Thanks, Jim

I believe the main difference between the two is that the Eldorado has an ED180 and can slightly off set operating frequency with a switch. The Bandido has an ED 120 and can't shift frequency. Full ED 180 can turn the discriminator down to essentially all metal, with the ED 120 at minimum discrimination you are still eliminating small nails.

The Eldorado replaced the BII and is the more recent machine. I have one and have been well pleased with it.

I had the same decision to make a few months ago, and I went for the Eldorado. The ED-180 discrimination, without the noisy HOT technology, seems a bit better than the ED-120 to me. Plus, the frequency shift could be useful if there is interference on one of the frequencies.

Thanks all for the help on the two. I sent off a check for the Bandido II so will see how that goes, comes with the stock 8" coil.
