Hey folks, wondering if there were any changes in MicroMax Eldorado electronics duing their prodiction run (?). I picked up what's apparently an early MicroMax Eldorado, and a very late one. Early has the polished poles and glossy stickers, and late has the painted poles (ABS lower) and matte finish stickers. Both seem to work the same; just wondering about internal revisions.

Painting is cheaper than anodizing, anodizing looks better.
Matte decals were used because guys were complaining about glare from the sun reflecting off the faceplate decal.

Yeah; just curious.
I know Compadres went through a couple revisions and I seem to remember seeing a chip stickered something like "eldo" being used in a DeLeon (?)... Guessing the Eldo was only around for 3-4 years before Vaquero replaced it, so the changes were probably only cosmetic.

put mine on a Tesoro black shaft  the anodized one was a bit wobbly .

looks ok

amberjack, which coil is that on your Eldo, and how do like it? Thinking about a 5.75 for one of mine, but it looks like Tesoro only offers a concentric 5.75 in the 5 pin. Guess I could go with a small NELS or COR to have a DD, but I'd rather stay with Tesoro coils.

Tesoro make a 7" DD which works well, but yes the one in the photo is the 5.75" concentric which measures 6" so only 1" in it, but yes the 5.75" is thin, light and a bit too easy to swing  sharp on targets discriminates well and for the most part I don't feel like I need a DD coil in trashy spots.

that coil has found me gold on the Outlaw and it pings coins well also

for the price a bargain compared to other brands etc..

I understand what you want, but I wanted to throw this out there as to what I did recently. I was looking at smaller coils for my Vaquero. To use a figure, say $120 for a smaller coil. It hit me I could get a Compadre with a small coil for $160. Yes, you have to weigh everything involved of course.

$120 coil vs $160 new detector with coil

Yup; the small Compadre is a killer deal! One of the Eldorados I recently got though, came without any coil, so I guess I'll grab the 5.75 for it.
BTW - I was really lucky recently in that I found a brand new, never opened (!) Compadre 5.75, for $116 shipped! COMPADRE!

Good deal. I'm at 11 detectors I think, sad...lol

I agree on the small coil compadre.
I just had to grab one even though I have the 8" and a bandido II micromax along with the 5.75.
Some days I just like the simplicity topped with great performance of the compadre. That 5.75 worked wonders yesterday in a trash filled spot in my complex.

I had the 8 as well; actually bought that one before the 5.75...then my wife started harrassing me, so I told her the 8" was for our son... That quieted her 'till the next detector showed up.
I almost have enough Tesoros... Still want a LST and a Sand Shark to round out the collection. Then again, I still don't have a Bandido II, or a Golden, or... ^_^

Haha I have many also as you see in my signature. But when I saw that bandido, I had to get it. Came with an 8" and a 4" tiny tiny coil.
I'll probably end up buying the valuers even though I nodded the Cibola and have the bandido. I think I have a problem.... better than drugs!! Haha
On second thought, maybe the Tejon.
The Eldorado seems like a cross between a bandido and a vaquero. More like just the vaquero because of the frequency shift but no HOT circuitry. A lot like my cibola. Ahh wrl they all look the same with subtle differences and they will all get the job done in the proper hands (not mine yet, but I'm trying)
