Eldorado uMax - threshold interference

New member
while adjusting the GB knob in a negative direction on the Eldorado uMax it interferes with the threshold tone causing it to raise up an down quite strongly just as if tuning a radio station , when adjusting the GB knob in a postitive direction there is no change in the threshold . The detector functions perfectly and is very easy to GB , I am just wondering if this is normal or maybe a sign that something is on the way out ? I only have the Tejon to compare and while adjusting the GB knob in either direction on the Tejon it cause's no interference to the threshold ...

any thoughts

Mine screams a lot when making adjustments. Doesn't seem to matter, just the nature of the beast. My Eldo works great.

from Tesoro and other manufacturers. Sometimes it is less noticeable due to how the have the GB adjustment circuitry and the auto-tune circuitry working.

Don't let it bother you. In fact, think of it as an assurance that you know something is happening when you make any adjustment to the GB control.

If it does annoy you, you can sometimes hold the toggle in a 're-tune' position, at least with some of the models, and not notice it so bad.

The Eldorado you have is one of the better multi-purpose detectors Tesoro has ever offer so just go enjoy the heck out of it!

I owned an Eldorado and now own a Euro Saber that has the same GB as the Eldorado.

I never noticed the thing you all are talking about.

I have rubber washers on my Euro Sabre to stabelize the knob.

GBing is second nature to me and I only listen to what I've been taught and learned by doing.

Just goes to show. You hear what you want. Listening is an art.
