Eldorado question

cadman_us

Member
Just bought a Eldorado off ebay, got it in today, I have a question about ground balancing. When you do the Ground balance, as you turn the GB, does the machine usually squawk or honk at the slightest adjustment? I don't mean the threshold getting a little louder as you bob the coil up and down, it sounds off like you are twitching the battery test on and off .

I think it might be up for a trip back to the factory. What say y'all?

Thanks,

Joe

Stop your worrying. That's normal.:)

Tabman,

Thanks for the reply, I think the Eldorado might be a little sick. I have a Silver Sabre

Yes it will make a screach when your making adjustments then it will retune to itself to your new adjustment. I would have it looked at if your stating its not getting depth in your test garden it might need a little tune up. You will love that machine once it gets some new tires and a oil change. :)

mine is the old big metal box. yea it sqauwks, but it boy does it work. DEEEEEEP! if it aint deep it's sick. the good folks can fix it up! Dr Rusty MD PHd ( METAL DETECTORIST PARK HUNTER DOCTOR)

Is it the 'original' Eldorado in the larger metal housing, or the last Eldorado in the smaller

Monte,

I am sorry I didn't give the model, it is the Eldorado

Joe mine doesn't go super deep either, but I love the ease of operation and stability. Let us know how your machine fares after getting it back, I'd be interested in knowing how it works out for you.

Shipped it out yesterday, will report back with final results.

It won't need a trip back, if the coil is working fine and you make the proper GB adjustment.Monte

He owns numerous detectors so I would bet the farm says he knows how to ground balance properly and he stated he had tried multiple coils before you posted, but hey atleast you corrected yourself and gave him the correct advice (which is the same as everyone else had stated) two posts later. GJ!!!

In all do repect (but not much) jonnywayne:

You seem to take joy at taking potshots at a well respected contributor that we have the right to enjoy on this great Tesoro Forum. I don't appreciate it, and I don't think he does either, but he is too much of a gentleman to rebut you. Me, on the other hand will stand up for what I think is right about this forum, and having someone to look for solid advice that is freely given is truely a gift.

I have read many of Montes posts on Find's and have always found them to be a wealth of information.

Monte has answered a few of the questions that I have asked on this forum in the past, he always tries to be helpful and will go into detail in his answers.

He is always welcome to post in any topic that I start.

Thanks,

joe

I have Tesoros. My original big box Eldorado is very deep. it took a trip back to tesoro once, and come back really super. freshwater beach, i have dug along side of some of the top of the line touted machines and most expensive machines. My wide scan coil and proper ground balance will hang with any machine. maybe its my soil, maybe its my tuning, i know its a lot to do with my machine, and following instructions from people like Mr Monte. he promotes this hobby. if it is done right its enjoyable. skill with a machine also REALLY counts, and KNOWING the machine as well as PRACTICE. i have no doubt that Mr Monte could take my Amigo II and kick my butt against my Eldorado. i am tone deaf and hearing impaired to certain tones. i am also far sighted and recently lost most vision in one eye, so meters and such are more problems than worth it until my hearing gets worse, and tesoro makes a bigger readout machine (HINT HINT).

i am open minded and always will consider and try something. what works for me may not work for you and vice versa.

anyone who has mastered this craft/hobby, can build them, and offers free advice, i will heed and respect it even if it does not work for me. i have a shortlist of techs, and 40 yr plus collectors and user and modders i highly respect. Monte is on that list in bold letters.

Excellent, if I posts outlandish statements by all means feel free to disagree with me, I take no offense to it.

Joe I read in the warranty thread where you got it back, have you tried it out yet? If I missed a follow up I apologize for asking.

I went to a local high school and cleaned up on clad with it, deepest coin was a copper penny at 6". Works great.

The best thing about that trip, I loaned a buddy of mine a Silver Sabre umax, first time he had used a beep and dig detector. He has a Garrett A/T pro, he was impressed with the Tesoro, the lightness and the discrimination ability of it. I showed him how to roll the disc knob to see what the target was and turned him loose. He is about to start looking for one for himself.
