Eldorado or Musketeer Advantage Minelab

I want to get the device of middle class. The choice has risen between two marks: Eldorado Tesoro or Musketeer Advantage Minelab. It would be desirable to hear advice of skilled hunters what from these devices is better under their characteristics and properties. Yours faithfully Avdey.

musketeer is hard to learn and must be ran slow. it also looses a lot of targets in trash as it nulls out over iron and then looses targets next to the iron if you don't go slow slow slow. a really small coil has to be used. i just got an eldorado and don't know much about tosoros but my first impresion is good. we're sitting at -5 to 23 degrees here in fairplay co. so i'm headed to florida. to try it out.

I'm not familiar with the Advantage, but I do have the Musketeer XS which is the prior model. Don't get me wrong, I love my Minelab. It works good, but sometimes I wish I'd purchased a Tesoro instead. You only have two options for coils on the Minelab... an 8 inch and a 10 inch coil. It's also heavy. I've swung a Conquistador Umax, and it was much lighter than mine. The Advantage has a fixed ground balance setting. This basically makes it a turn and go detector, but you do loose a little depth compared to manually ground balancing the unit. I get good depth from my detector, but due to arm fatigue, I had to get a hip mount bag to cut down on weight. I think with the many different coil options, you're gonna find the Eldorado more flexible to different detecting situations. It's light weight, and a lifetime warranty make it an excellent choice. In my humble opinion.

Yeh, I've heard similar stories about Minelabs nulling out. I believe they call this system 'IRON MASK', which is great in theory, as it 'masks out' the iron targets. Trouble is, it also masks out any good targets NEAR TO THE IRON <img src="/metal/html/shocked.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":shock"> I might be wrong on this, but that's MY understanding of the mask system.

hawk good luck in fa. if u hunt in all metal a slite raise in tone. i dug a hair pin at 6 or 7 ins with it that way in sand

Here is a pretty lop-sided opinion for you.
I bought the Eldorado last April. Absolutely love the machine. While I have bought another Model Tesoro I am keeping the Eldorado as well.
A friend bought an Eldorado at about the same time I got mine. I got along fine and learned to ground Balance it rather quickly. My friend never seemed to get the hang of ground balanceing. He sold his Eldorado abd bought the Advantage and is happy.
The feature I use very often is the frequency Shift. I use it to null electrical interference. Since my other machine does not have it, thats why I am keeping the Eldorado.
My honest opinion is, with the lifetime warranty and outstanding service reputation Tesoro is the only choice.
That said I have heard stories about exceptional depth of the Advantage. I would love to run my Tesoro alongside one and see if that is fact or Myth.
