Eldorado (metal case)

Can anyone provide firsthand info on the original Eldorado?

I had it and used it for a season. Mine came with 3 coils. Not the deepest detector I ever used but I did find some nice stuff with it.

I had two of them. They were the main competition of the Fisher 1265X for civil war relic hunters during the late 1980's and early 90's. You could dig a very deep bullet or button with the 11 inch wide scan coil. I would think they would still be a great detector ever today. They are a little bulky and some people used to set them up with a hip mount. I would think a metal box El Dorado would still be a better machine than today's Silver UMax I would say about as good as a Cibola
