Eldorado Ground Balance

Rob ohio

New member
Taking an Eldorado out for a test drive but not sure I have the ground set correctly. Help or advice is appreciated.

Thanks
Rob

Rob,

Take it outside, turn it on and set sensitiviy to 10, discrimination set to minimun, flip toggle switch to all-metal mode, set threshold hummmmm to audible level with headphones on.

Then sweep the coil around the general area you want to detect at while still in all-metal mode, making sure you ground balance in metal free area. While still in all-metal mode, bob the coil up

down (briskly) over a metal free piece of ground from about 8" to about 1" above ground. What does the threshold hummm do? If it goes silent as coil is aproaching ground, turn ground balance knob

clockwise a little. Then pump the coil (bob) back anf forth from 8" to 1" briskly again, checking what the threshold humm is doing. If the threshold hummm gets louder as coil is aproaching the ground

turn the ground balance knob counter clockwise some. Keep checking/adjusting ground balance and listening to the threshold and by using the bobing method until you get a steady theshold.

hhhhhhhhhuuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmm with no rises or dips in the tone, Congrats, you are now ground balanced and ready to hunt with either mode.

Rob:

Think of ground balance like a radio..If Humm( Music) goes down turn it up (Clockwise) If sound goes up turn it down (Counter clockwise) while pumping the coil.
keep turning up or down till sound stays even.... or as many like to do just a little positive (Sound raises) slightly. I like it even as close as possible.

Elton and Hombre make it pretty clear. It's an easy thing to do, especially after a bit of practice. You do want to master it, as a proper adjustment will give you the best results while a major mis-adjustment can give very poor results.
