I decided to clean my ctx esp around the pin connections that screw in. Ok finished now I cant get the pin connection to line up correctly , if I remember right it should push in pretty good but it seems to not want to go in and don't want to force it, the coil pin connecter went in without a problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated about easy ways to make these connections thanks jim

This was originally an issue for me until I simply used the following as my guide.
I can even make sure that either plug is correctly aligned (coil change mostly) for pushing them into the correct position to tighten them up, without my reading glasses and have done so even in low light, nearly dark, by feeling for that plastic "nib" with my thumb and forefinger to ensure it basically faces the right way "up" for the CTX3030 connection point/s.

Never force either plug in if it is not the case that this "nib" is in the position as indicated in the second picture.

You can always relay on the position being correct for pushing the plug/s in to able to tighten them up, when you ensure this little raised "nib"(red arrow points to them) of either or both connectors are facing the way as indicated in the second and third picture.

David gave you a good explanation. But one thing I might add would be to look closely at the pins to make sure you didn't bend any of them when cleaning them. If they are not straight, when you try to push the connector on (using the ridge as a guide), you can certainly create a mess. HH Randy

If one would take all of the 'bells & whistles' out of the CTX 3030-( water proofing, GPS, military connectors etc.) and just kept trash separation & depth, what other detector is equal to Minelab???

Randy , yes, you are correct.

The only time I've ever cleaned those pins has been with something similar to this (an example) :

or compressed dry air from a compressor/ tank.

Would not advise to physically touch the pins in any way shape or form so as to bend them. Always handle the connectors with care and avoid forcing them into position until they are checked to be keyed into their correct location.

I really wish that a more robust version for these connectors was used, but they can suffice if care is taken.
