Egg thing

What about this egg like thing - any idea as to what it was ? I found it in a burned out house. The egg itself is onyx stone. Total height about 4 inches. Steve in so az

the end of a decorative curtain rod (there'd be one of those on each end). Maybe a fancy top for holding on a lamp shade to a floor lamp or table lamp. Hard to say but it sure is pretty. Congrats on the find Steve.

I believe it sat like shown. The bottom is flat and has an ingrained signature of the artist = S. Zesinger.

Did a little searching...

So that's all one piece right? Onyx stone carved in the shape of an egg? I think it's as simple as being a decorative piece. While I wasn't able to find much on the artist, there was one person who posted they also had a Zesinger egg and wanted to know something about it. No reply to the question on line but you're not the only person with one Seems there's also a "Zesinger" signed item from Fenton. Don't know if it's the same artist.

It's very nice though!
