Got up this morning to find it's going to be sunny and warm. And the grass was covered in dew. Waited until 8:30am in hopes the grass would dry out some.
I drove over to a park with two baseball diamonds with hopes of hunting inside the one that was fenced off. Wouldn't you know, I pull up and a few guys were unloading some equipment to play. So I mowzied over to the other diamond and big shade trees. Spent a three hours there, came away with some pennies, a few nickels and dimes, a $1 and two $2 coins, bunch of trash. This is my first real hunt with the Edge since buying it. Last one I sold was back in 2011. Fitted with the 6" coil, I once again have a clad magnet. Gave me a chance to try out my new headphone build with it. The Edge ran great at full sensitivity, no EMI issues since shielding the box. Started learning the tones and numbers again, so I dug most items until I knew what numbers were definitely junk. One particular thing I noticed with the headphones, is the sound was excellent and clear, not tinny or bassie and an added crackle when running over larger canslaw or other aluminum crap. The Edge will ID in the junk range, the difference between a good target in the junk range and the alumin is that after pinpointing in all metal mode
and move the coil away from the target, if you get any crackle at all, it's junk. If no crackle, dig, could be gold. Finding the same thing happens with zinc pennies, you'll get a crackle.
If it ID's in the penny range, crackles the slightest amount along with a good pinpoint tone its zinc.
It was getting way to hot with the sun blaring down overhead and decided to make a trip over to the power line schoolyard to see how the Edge would handle the EMI.
Cranked up to max sensitivity it did pick some some EMI falsing, yet fully hunt-able and tolerable unlike the F5 and Omega or the Coinstrike which drove them nuts.
Started finding coins with no problems, yahoo. Just to see when the EMI would fade away on the Edge it was right about 8 on the sensitivity. More $1 and 42 coins, quarters, pennies and nickels. And a crazy find, a chrome hash pipe. The reason it was a crazy find. Think on my 2nd outing with the first Edge back in 2011 found a brass hash pipe.
Hopefully I will get in one last hunt later today in the woods with the 8" coil. Times running out, will be fully grown in within a week. There's a section that has not been cut down since the 40's. It just has the look like something good is buried in there.
