Ed, the detector arrived today. I have been swinging a borrowed MXT for a couple of days familiarizing myself with it. Simple, straight forward, effic

other than being very sensitive to tiny targets (That are usually small parts off of something else or # 4 shot), I don't see any advantage over the XLT or DFX for relic hunting. The "sit up" time is an advantage over the pad adjustment of the XLT or DFX but I have my custom programs on those that are just a trigger pull away... so no faster really that way in comparison. But I do like the MXT and think it's a killer relic machine, I just like the personal versatility of the XLT DFX better.

... The MXT is a bit more noisier "chatty machine in the relic mode. It's tough to get used to after the peaceful quiet of the DFX. I'm convinced the MXT is THE BEST detector value for the dollars spent of any detector made. The MXT can sniff out a small frail brass button better than most.

I love the relic mode where you get a high pitched tone above discrim setting and a low pitch tone for metal below the discrim setting. If yop don't want to be bothered with the low tones, puch the pinpoint switch forward when hunting to eliminate that tone .... although you may eliminate finding shell fragments, guns, gun parts.

The only place where I prefer the DFX is when hunting over wet salt sand.
