Eclipse Shooter DD (4x6)?

dwiger

New member
I went out hunting in a very old and large park yesterday that was just littered with trash. I literally could have dug a hole every 10 inches and started to at first but was afraid I would have nothing but a trench and a bunch of metal junk so I moved on to a different park. My question is would a Eclipse Shooter DD (4x6) coil discriminate out most of the trash or is it just the smaller foot print that helps in dirty places? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Dan

PS I'm using an MXT

Hey Dwiger....
In MY hunting, I've found that the 4 X 6 coil picks up less trash due to the size....you're not getting as many targets at the same time. I like the coil and it's great in and around tight areas. Around picnic tables it helps sort out trash pretty good. Hope you get other opinions.

There are some good coils available that give you good target separation in high trash areas. The Whites 4x6, and Kellyco's Excelerators 5", 6" and 4.5x7 inch DD coils. Big coils pick up to many targets at once causing you to miss the good targets. I personally use the 6" and 4.5x7 DD Excelerators and I am extremely happy with their performance. Hope that helps. The 4X6 is perfect for that type of place. I always keep mine handy. It's a knee, back and arm saver. I believe you lose a little depth but for a very trashy site it is well worth having.

I love the 4x6 for real trashy places, it's target separation is incredible. Yes you might lose a little depth but you can get most of it back by cranking your sensitivity because the coil can handle the gain and won't chirp out on you.

My 4x6 found a buffalo nickle that read 0 iron in high trash. Makes me wonder what else can read below normal. I now dig all smooth sounding targets.
