Eclipse Deepscan 1400 DD 8" x 14"

slumpshooter

Has anyone tried this coil out on the V3? It looks like it should work, however White's site does not indicate it for the V3???? But it does group it in the 2.5 to 22.5 khz family. Any thoughts or experience are welcome.

But it does group it in the 2.5 to 22.5 khz family.

No it doesn't, it is listed for the DFX, M6, and MXT which doesn't include the 22.5 khz. The 8x14 is heavy, doesn't seem to get more depth than the 10"D2, and is not v nulled. How much gain it can take depends on the one you have. It might and might not take the higher gains. Rob

Thanks Rob, I appreciate your comments and find them interesting. So after continueing to find a better answer to this, I went to the Whites site and under the V3 section, further under V3 accessories I find, "coils for the Spectra V3" Under Coils for the V3 you find a statement that says "Any of the White's Eclipse and Super 12 search coils made after October 2008 are compatible with the White's Spectra V3 Metal Detector". It goes on to imply under the heading "Compatible Search Coils For Spectra V3" that it includes the White's Eclipse Deep Scan DD 1400 8x14 coil, yet under the picture it only includes or speaks to the DFX,M6 and MXT, check it out {http://www.whitesspectrav3.com/Search_Coils/Search_Coils.htm}. If anyone from Whites that is better in the know, your input would be appreciated in that this is an expensive coil to acquire.
Based on this, I think the info is clear and apparently it is compatiblie with the V3. Now I want to know if anyone has success with this very different pattern and it's supposed better response to Gold? If it does not acchive more depth than the 10" D2, I think that is maybe okay, what about it's other properties, advantage or not?
Thanks,

You might want to call White's and get a decisive answer, but I think Rob is right on the money. The 1400 DD might work on a V3 like other coils that are not V nulled, but if it is not nulled for the V, it will likely not be very sensitive to the small gold targets and will not allow a very high RX setting either.

Well, it sure doesn't make much sense, I follow your's and Rob logic, but perplexed how it is represented on the White site. If it doesn't null, then it is not fully compatible, don't say it is...

I have been wrong before BUT This forum was was started in March 09. The Vision ( V3) had just come out. There wasn't even a manual. The key here is compatible. You can use your DFX coils on the V they are compatible they just can't handle the higher gains and 22.5 khz as well as the V nulled coils. I'd call Whites and ask if the 8x14 is now V nulled not just compatible. If it is now V nulled let us know.

Now as far as advantages it's a DD coil and has no advantage except it covers more ground. I own every V coils but this one, too big, too heavy and the small shooter which just doesn't fit my style of hunting. There are guys using the coil but I don't think it will give you any depth gains. Rob

Thanks, Rob,
I follow you completely, thanks!
I am waiting to hear back from someone at White, may be Monday before I do.
In the mean time, I get a coil from KellyCo (they are loaning me) to tryout on Monday or Tuesday. I will update you with what ever I hear and or experience then.
Thanks again!

Hi I have received a price list from Whites over here in the U.K. and it does say that the Eclipse Deepscan DD 1400 (NOT V3).

Dave

I heard from White today. They say there are numbers on the mounting ear of the Coil that will tell them if the coil is V-nulled or not. So when I get it, I am to forward those numbers to White and they will tell me if it is a V-nulled Eclipse or one manufactured before they started to V-null them all. Which says, they now manufacture V-nulled Eclipse Deep-Scan 8X14 1400 DD coils, as advertised. There are a lot out there that are not V-nulled, only newly manufactured ones are, you can check with White at {info@whitesspectrav3.com} to see if one is or not...

Well I heard from White today, and got a message I wasn't expecting. None-the-less it is good info to share with the group. See Past below;

Chris,

It appears to have been manufactured in late 2007.

White's doesn't recommend and is not tuning nor planning to tune the 1400 for use with the V3. The standard equipment 10 "DD" is half the weight and appears to perform virtually identically, if not better than the 1400.

So, I think Rob said almost the very same thing... Next time Rob speaks, i will listen better...

That Rob guy is one pretty smart fella........:buds:
