Eclipse Deep Scan DD 1400

Hey gang, I just got the Eclipse Deep Scan 8X14 DD 1400 coil last night. I threw it on my MXT, and it the back yard. I found 7 coins in less then 10 minutes or so in the same area that I hunted with my stock coil in the past. Seems like it is very quick on seeing coins, at least it is quicker then when I hunted here with the stock set up. Anyone have any additional advise for using this coil. Thanks in advance to anyone that chimes in here with some info.

Regards,
Jim

I have noticed the 1400 DS to be about 2-3" deeper in my soil (Northern California) compared to the stock coil, my soil reads between 72-78. I hunted my wife's grandfather's yard in (So.Cal) and found the 1400 DS to be similar to the stock coil as far as depth, ground readings of 55-60. There is a place for every coil, I use the 1400 for beach hunting in N.Cal the ground and salt make most detectors useless but the 1400 works great. Good luck with the Deep Scan it's a great coil.

Hey thanks for the info John. I am new to the larger coil game, so I am taking in all the info I can get. I am located in NY, and this made my MXT really great last night in the backyard. A heck of a lot more sensitive then I was running with the stock coil. You are very right though, It does depend on what soil you are hunting in. Looks good for me so far though. I hope it stays that way. Good luck hunting ,thanks again.

I rigged a hip-mount kit for mine. Now its no effort to swing. Being a solid coil and not a spider design it slides easily across the ground
without hanging on anything. My open coils want to let grass weeds or what ever snag them and takes allot of effort to move them on certain grasses, has allot of drag for some reason. If I remember correctly clover does this.

Hey Mike thanks for the tip man!! It does have some wt to it, but it's not as bad as some of the post I have read on other sites.(Besides, it's worth the extra weight lol). I'll take a work out, as long as the coins are flying out of the ground lol. Tell me what kind of depth you are getting with this coil. Thanks again for the help.

Well to be honest I don't know for sure, the worse the ground the better it does compared to the stock. I like it cause it see's big and small targets. I dug some coroded zinc's with huge halo's in sand that were way to deep for the effort it took. I use it to cover a lot of ground for surface targets and on sand to scoop most every thing. Easy pickins as it were.

Got ya. I'll see how it works out. I hope good, cause I already paid for it lol. Thanks for your help.

Did you buy it new? Todd at Whites told me he knows the guy who designed the coil. He said its the only coil he uses.

Yes, I just picked it up last night at my local dealer. He actually hooked me up with some goodies besides the coil. Got a set of Whites Royal GT head phones for $30, and a free 7" digger. I would like to know how to contact the dude that invented this one. I only got to use it for a short time last night, but it was much faster at finding coins that I now know I have already missed with the stock coil. I can't wait to check out another site here in NY that I have already hunted many times. I am curious to see if I passed anything else up using the stock coil. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks,
Jim

Its that DD design, it see's thru minerals better. My coil also pinpoints good to. If you want to luxurate your self get the RAT headphones some day, they are the best I have seen to date.

I have found this coil to be the best on silver coins, especially deep ones. It's also great on small items, which surprised me beacause of the large size that it is. Good luck with it, I have just about every coil for the MXT and tend to use the 1400 alot of the time.

but when I took it to Virginia it seemed to have problems. Depth wise it seemed a wash with the stock. My 1400 was alot noisier than my stock coil. After having problems twice in Virginia I sent my two coils back as I thought there was a problem with them. I have only used one of my two news ones with similiar results. I use the 1400 for ground coverage when looking for new sites.
