Eclipse 5.3" loop vs. Eclipse Shooter DD 3x6" - Need info

Currently have Stock 300 "spider" coil for MXT. New to the hunt but really loving it. Can anyone explain and/or compare differences and advantages (if any ) between Eclipse 5.3 Loop vs Eclipse Shooter DD 3x6" based on experiences... Really appreciate the help. Thanks. EJ :usmc:

I have the 5.3 and use it probably 80% of the time because it works great in trashy areas. I don't have the 3"x6" but would like to try it. HH john

I have the 5.3 concentric and the 3x6 DD coils. They are two different types and they both have their place. The 5.3 does have great depth for its size and I also use it 80% of the time when I go to the local park. The 3x6 is a smaller coil and is great for heavy trash areas, cracks in bedrock( when looking for gold),along sidewalks where re bar could be a problem and in tight areas where other coils can not fit into. When I go to a park I take both. If I have to choose one I would get the 5.3 first. HH Chappy

Chappy,

Good info. Thanks Chappy, John & Jeff. I'm leaning toward purchasing the 5.3 and all your comments add favorably toward my decision.

I have both coils and like both. The 5.3 serves quite well as a general "go to" coil with good depth, decent coverage and handles trashy areas quite well. The little shooter coil falls behind in both depth and coverage, but excels in very heavy trash. I've pulled goodies out of areas that I could hardly hunt, with other, larger coils. Adding either to the 300 coil will increase the versatility of your machine. In my opinion, if you often hunt areas with very heavy trash get the little shooter, if mostly moderate to somewhat heavy trash the 5.3 is dandy. If you can work in both, that's even better.
