Easter Morning Hunt

Easter might be the only holiday left in my I always detect on this holiday streak. I think I missed Thanksgiving last year when my back was out. Anyway, forecast was for rain. I went out anyway. Had to charge batteries before I left which seemed to take a long time. I got on the road around 7 and was hunting by 8. First dig I reached for my trusty Pro-Pointer and found my holster was empty! After hunting in the mud yesterday I gave my PP it a good bath and remembered setting it in the dish rack to dry. A fat lot of good it did me there today. I hunted for a few minutes and scored a wheat. Next target was a Merc. A few targets later the second Merc. A few targets after that the silver monogram thing. I chased silver for the next 2 1/2 hours and found none. It started to sprinkle so I bugged out. I decided if it wasn't raining when I passed a good clad spot I'd drop in and find 50 quick coins and head home. I did it in about an hour which is very good for not having my PP. I bet I reached for that thing just about every time I knelt to recover a target. Hard habit to break! Anyway found the .925 ankh ring too shortly before I called it quits. I went to a deli to get a sandwich, a soda, and a bag of chips. I reached for a $20 to pay and when the cashier said $5.55 I told her I had the soda and chips too. She said yeah, I know. I was way out in the country where apparently five bucks still buys you something. The sub was fantastic, BTW. Rained all the way home. Perfect timing.

I think the initials on that monogram are HMR. Anybody see anything else. The Mercs are 1929 and 1939. The ring weighs 2 grams.

After finding two silver coins in around 10 minutes I notched out everything below VDI 70 or 75 for about an hour. It was taking me too long to dig up little bits of can without my PP. That's why my nickel count is low. There were around 10 targets I never did find. I'll go back and they'll still be there.

Happy Easter everybody.

Chris

New paper towel even if UW hasn't had a chance to call me cheap yet.

That's a great day. I found a 1979 clad quarter and then the rest was trash. But, the quarter was my first find and made my day, even if it was clad. Two mercury dimes in one day and silver rings, that would be fantastic. Thanks for posting.

I quite liked your outhouse story on another thread. Odd that the thread was about coin licking and it brought up that memory.

Like I wrote, after finding two silver coins in a very short time I decided to pound the area and find at least 6 silver coins which would be my best silver day ever. I was punished for being so arrogant, I think. (Not really but I didn't find any more.)

Thanks for reading!

Chris

Nice hunt travlelin man. Makes me want to retire early and go hunting in different counties, It will happen a few years down the road for me. I can hear the words coming from my mouth when I find out I forgot my propointer and I'm miles from home. Sounds like a two sub sandwich and chip day for most of us. That is a lot of clad coins:thumbup: Love that silver. Keep on pounding the ground.

cwilk that's better than Easter eggs if I had a spot like that I think I could get wet and go without food for a couple of days
great finds
Joe
