Earphones hurt my ears.... earbuds???

The clamping of earphones really hurts my ears after a couple hours..... What brands of "earbuds" or similar devices are good...... I imagine you hear more of outside sounds with these.... Are there some that are better than others.??? I hunt the surfline almost exclusively....

As far as connector I guess it doesnt matter.. just solder the one you need on.....

I used to have this problem with the cheaper headphones that sit more on the ears, but those like the Sun Ray Pro gold,Gray Ghost and killer bees plus other headphones made for detecting have a bigger ear cuff so they don't set on your ears as much and will sit more on your head around the ears. Now I don't really have a problem with sore ears and they block out the background noise and are comfortable.

Most earbuds are 16 Ohm impedance. Most detectors like 32 Ohm or better so be careful during your selection.
I think Maxell makes a pair at 32 Ohm and are only $3.
Give them a try. I use them for most of the summer and find that they are adequate for everything but the most serious hunting requirements.
They have a shorter cable than average and sometimes get ripped out of my ears (the cord catches on my arm when digging), but they hold up nicely.

One other thing, earbuds attenuate the volume to a respectable level on detectors without volume control.
If they are still too loud and you don''t want to deal with adding volume control, you could go with the 16 ohm earbuds but battery life and audio sensitivity will decrease.

I've been using Ink'd earbuds by Skull Candy (16 ohm). They almost seem to work too good... great target response, long wires, but their volume using my Sov XS-2 Pro is way too loud. My ears ring after using them for a while.

Does anybody know if there is a volume control I can plug them into before they go in the 1/4 jack adapter? I'm tempted to put cotton in my ears first! Otherwise I love 'em.

I don't like full sized headphones as they hurt my ears too. I use Sony Studio Head Phones for $20 from Walmart. They are about half the size of large headphones and have nice soft material on them. The audio is also excellent from them.
