Earphone quality

From what I have been able to learn, It is the impedance that matters for the sound pick up in an earphone.. Calrods with 8 ohms defiantly inferior to 150 ohms. Is this correct?..Then what? cordially NAD

My understanding of the OHMs part is same as yours. Don't know for sure about the "then what?", but I'm thinking the more expensive phones have (or should have) better quality components, as well. I have several pairs of Grey Ghosts and a pair of Koss and they all sound better than calrads and seal out external noise better.

The ohms is a matter of input, out-put charistics.

So, tha ohms on tha speakers is a matter of
matching tha out-put transmitter.

I don't know, but it seems that all metal detectors
are not tha same. But, it seems that 150 ohms do
work better on most.

Consider this. With two 150 ohm speakers, are tha
total ohms of tha headphones 150, or 75?

Check tha wiring.

There are sets with 300 ohm speakers. I don't know
how they work.

But, the quality materials of Killer B's or Gray Ghost
make "Calrods" seem like junk.

Found the CalRods ,fitted to my Silver.....Sound was a fraction of the speakers sound........Wonder how many deep coins they cost over the years? Beginning to think I was lucky to find anything at all. Cordially Nad
