It's been a long snow covered winter, but hopefully the end is in sight. This last week and a half or so has been pretty warm and a bit of the snow has melted off and opened a few places up for hunts. I have been itching to get the season started so I made it out as much as I could, about 7 hunts over about a week totaling about 12 hours. Silver has started good this season with 6 dimes, 1 canadian, 1 merc, and 4 rosies. I also got my first gold for the year. I got a signal that looked like a penny and sounded like garbage and probably swung over it 15 times before deciding not to dig. I took two steps away and decided to go back and dig it, it was a ladies watch, it rubbed off very clean and shiny. It is marked 10k gold filled, but any gold is good gold in my book! Also got an Aquarius lucky coin, a 5cent token for mints, 17 wheats, and about 150 assorted clad. Here is a pic of all of the crap I dug this week too, so you can see how many targets I dug to get a few goodies. Glad I got out when I did because we woke up to snow again this morning.:ranting:. Hope spring is here for everyone soon and HH!

That's some nice stuff jc. What's the year on the Canadian coin ? I think I found the same one awhile back. BTW that spoon in your junk pile looks like the one I dug up yesterday ! It doesn't say "United Silver & Co." on the back does it ? Good work.

Fantastic finds. I love seeing all the junk dug. Glad to see you're doing your part and NOT throwing it back on the ground. Boy that burns me up when I see that happen! :veryangry: You've got some wonderful finds. Thanks so much for posting and HH, Nancy

Thanks for the comments guys and gals. The canadian dime is 1953, it seems everything I find at this park is 40-50's. I found the serial number on the watch and the company has a database of their watches. It is a Elgin watch that was made in 1950. The spoon looks plated as it is in bad shape, and the marking on the back appear to be XXX, not silver though, darnit. Well looks like the weather might cooperate this weekend so keep your fingers crossed and I will try to get out for a hunt on sunday, will keep y'all snow-bound swinger posted. TX and HH!
