Early Morning Low Tide Hunt Yields Gold :)

Buddy Karl and me hit the surf lane this morning from about 2:30 to 6:30. No other hunters in the lane. No other PEOPLE in the lane. A little rare yet for this time of year, but a sign of the fact that it's pretty much over indeed. It was VERY windy and a bit cold. The positive high tide from the previous cycles had a little cut action going and we hit a couple of hot spots where we dug lots of coins. I was in the wet sand at the water's edge pretty near low tide and got that beautiful Excal low gold growl sound and thought "GOLD!" and sure enough, out comes the 22" 10K chain. And a very nice one too. The lobster claw was missing. In the pic it's back...took it to the jeweler today and got it fixed because the wife wants to wear it. OK by me.

I also found a crematory tag and one of the crusties turned out to be silver. I caught a bit of a cold out there and the old snot factory has been working overtime all day today but I'm just stupid enough to go back tomorrow, so will probably have pneumonia by this time Sunday.

Cool! Does that silver looking tag open up? I found one just like it in South Beach with the fake diamonds all around, and it opened up to reveal a note that said, "Your Photo Here." Guess the guy who lost it didn't get around to putting his photo there...

Good job!

Nice to see!

I went back up the creek where I found the merc. No more silver just 78 cents in clad.

Very nice finds, I just got back from a morning trip to the beach (our session is just starting) found $5.90 in change and a cheap ring, in the dry sand, still good fun but I would have loved to find that chain. I will be buying an Excal within the next 2-3 weeks, and then I can hit the water. I will post a few pics later in the day.

Yes it was, hanging out of the scoop and I imediately saw it was a golden-yellow chain and a lengthy one. I got a little adrenaline rush too because the scopp was hanging over incoming surf and the first thing I thought was "don't lose it!" Then this would have a been a "You shoulda seen the one that got away..." post. :)
