Early Belt Buckle

This buckle half was found in a field about 50 ft. from where a 16th Dragoon button was found. We know there was a small Dragoon fort in this area in the 1830-1840 era. Can anyone give me any information about this find?
Thanx in advance! Dale
P.S. Does anyone have any info. on the 16th Dragoons?

"Eagle on stony mountain" pattern Militia plate. Date fits time frame of your fort site exactly: c. 1830's-40's. Several varieties shown in American Military Belt Plates by O'Donnell & Campbell. Super find!
Best of luck,
Buckram
