Earliest American Coin Find

Hit a spot today where the privies were dug out a few moons ago. They leveled the house and put in a giant billboard so the ground was all nice n churned up. I was on a short time limit so I will be going back after finding this. This is my earliest AMERICAN coin find to date. Notice the "notches" around the edge? I wonder what they were counting when they did this. Or was it just boredom?

Great find! It sure is a pretty thing. If you find out about the notches, please let us know also. HH, Nancy

Congratulations Drew, that is a dandy find........:clapping:

Thanks everyone, the site that this came out of dates back to that particular time period. There were at one time wood frame workers houses for the Dyottsville Glass Works here in Philadelphia. Ive got some of the whimsy made glass items in my collection that came out of the privies. I will do a post later with some pics so yall can see the property, and the digging, and the relics that were recovered.

A Bust Era Coin, shooting for Colonial next?
