Earlier versions of the F5 not responding to Silver Dollars. Anybody else had the problem??

I've ran into an issue with an F5 with the push in type coil connector (early version) not responding or hitting on a US Silver Dollar. The thing is it seems fine on Half Dollars, quarters, and dimes. Are there any past F5 users here that had ever encountered this issue?

Thanks for your help.

Some detectors, including some if not all F4's and F5's, can be ground balanced so positive they won't detect higher conductive coins. Dollar coins drop out first and as the ground balance is set more positive half dollars and quarters won't be detected. Hopefully that's the problem instead of something being wrong with your F5.

The topic is going on over in the F-series forum and the ground balance has been covered as a possibility. The reason I started this up over here was with the thinking that some former F5 users may be here that may not be following the F-Series forum.
I believe Dave_J stated that the ground balance feature on the F4 only applies to the all-metal mode, which is a little different than the F5 as I understand it.

Thanks for the input

Mark, I had a detector where I adjusted the internal GB pot more positive. That adjustment eliminated the silver half dollar till I fine tuned it more negative.

The F5 has both a fast grab GB and a manual GB. We did the silver $ test at our hunting site and we did the fast grab GB several times just to make sure. I did a GB with my F75 over the same spot again just to make sure. I don't remember my GB number but it was normal for the area, the F5's GB number was 55 to 57 every time.
