Earbuds with coiled lead wire?

SC Dirt Fisher

New member
During the summer, I like to use earbuds instead of headphones for two reasons. One is that headphones get too hot and uncomfortable after a while, and secondly, I can't wear my large brim hat that keeps the sun off.
The problem with earbuds is that all that I've found have too short of a lead wire. When I add the extension cord from RS, it's too long and the lack of a coiled cord the wire is dangling and gets caught on my tool sheath, pinpointer, etc.
Does anyone know of any earbuds that come with a coiled lead, or some other possible solution?
Thanks in advance!!!

I've had similar problems with wired full cup headphones.
The wires are a real PITA, they get hot in Summer and can't hear people sneaking up and have trouble hearing my PPer's beeping! Though i haven't had any issues with putting the headphones over my cap.

Think i solved the problem once and for all with a wireless headphone set that cost under $60. Before i post the specifics i want to put a few more miles on them.
Used it for a couple detecting sessions and they work great so far.

Look for my thread within the next couple days in the eTRAC forum.

I use a Koss VC 20 in-line volume control with my light weight head phones. It's cord adds about 2' to my headphone wire and I use peel and stick Velcro to hold it to the back of the arm rest on my detector. This makes the headphone wire long enough to be comfortable but not catch on things.
