has anyone used the ear training cd for the excalibur 2 ???has it helped and how often do you use it????
thanks
john

I've got the Excalibur Ear Training CD. Have listened to it several times.

It does take some dedication, and repeat listening to learn to tell the difference between the signals (ie penny versus pulltab).

But it is a well done product, and can help you out on both the excalibur on the sovereign gt.

Still, I've learned that if I get a tone on the Excalibur or Sov, and if it isn't the typical bottle-cap tone, I'm going to dig it.

Too many times I've almost decided to not to dig, then dug and found something interesting.

Bill

That's not a bad idea John. Today, while hunting at the beach, I got several high end tones that I thought were coins, turned out to be bottlecaps. Rings and pulltabs sound the same to me. HH

The CD not only helps you learn the tones, It's also a good reminder of what to do when you are hunting. It is always easy to fall back on old habits.........
I have my Excal a year now and i still listen to the CD...........HH

So U spend $35.00 & get to know what U think is the different sounds of a Quarter, Dime and Penny & gold ring. Then U are going along and you get a tone that isn't either one of them. It isn't the classic bobbl bobbl of a bottle top so do U dig it? Well U had better because it very well might be a gold ring/chain surrounded by some zinkers and/or a dime or quarter. Or how about a gold chain that sounds like some tin foil. Bottom line is that out in the water unless it is the CLASSIC bottle cap U gotta dig it....period

im still learning my machine,im just looking for that extra edge ...im able to know when its a cap or dime deep or quarter, the silver and gold eludes me at times, but when i come across a strange tone or multiple tones ill dig just to make sure ive not missed anything....where can i hear this cd at????anyone know who would have it for sale??
thanks

I believe Kellyco has them . I have been running excals for many years and about 30 -40 hours a week year round weather permitting and the only way you will know FOR SURE it is a deep dime, quarter or what ever or a cap IS TO DIG IT, DIG IT, DIG IT. Glue a nickel inside the toe of your boot, scan it from time to time & it will keep U happy till U hear the real thing

Cheaper to take a few items to the beach and spend half an hour going over them under the sand before you start, that way you get the proper sound through YOUR headphones and not through the car or house hifi speakers, you can turn them on edge or put em deep, whatever. Hands on i say just my opinion

I bought the CD and although in general it had good information. It should not be used as an exact sample of what you experience in real time. Get on the beach and dig, dig, dig, and dig. To me this is the right way to learn.

Yes, Kellyco does sell them. I have been thinking about getting one for a long time and probably will with my next order. I think they are around $20 right now.
