I use them with Peltor Optime 98 ear muffs and they work great.

I'd love to cut the headphone cans off of my excal and wire some of those in ! But , I can't bring myself to cut up a perfectly good machine. If I ever have a problem with my phones , I'll be doing it for sure.

I'm thinking about this mod. I have talked to someone that did it, and they said it really increased the sound quality. Also, I couldn't tell that he was detecting until I saw him lift his scoop out of the water. There is something to be said for keeping it on the down low.

Putting Ear buds in a sound proof muff is really, I mean really good for detecting on the beach where wind and waves plus people asking questions are the norm. If someone is trying to talk to me, I just tell them I can't hear them as I have my headphones on. The sound reduction with ear buds in say...Peltor Optime 98's is amazing.....you can't hear anything but the sound of the detector. No waves, no wind, no loud cars or jets. No loud people. No anything except the sound of treasure!

I would want just the ear buds. I like to wear big floppy hats with a neck flap on them for some sun protection. But , cant wear the one I really like because of the headphones. ( the brim goes all the way around the hat ) . So, instead I have to wear a different style with a smaller neck flap. The ear buds would allow me to wear whatever I want !

I live in florida and use ear buds most of the year because its so hot ,i just love them i can hear those feint signals and still hear whats is going on arond me.
