How many still use a Eagle 1986 to 1990 ???? MickFin, Thanks

Well, I just got one in trade, if that counts. It's got a sticker on the armrest that says "1991" and as far as I can tell it is a 90.5 version. I really dont know what all that means, but it seems like a pretty nice detector!

dahut Im gitting a Eagle II 90.5 with a trad to , I think its a work hourse with out The Bells N sistels???
I used to have one N I Like the 14 buttons you can get to fast N chang things, N it dosent have a delay for the target Like the XLT dos, MickFin

I dont really know, but that's what they say.

I like the access to the controls, too, but I dont like that the multi level functions arent clearly labeled as to their alternate functions. Without a decent set of instructions, you're hosed! And let me be honest, the instructions that come with the detector are crap.... vague and more confounding than helpful. I've read and re-read them and have gotten more help from a few scattered posts on the internet forums.
What I'd like to see is a decent synopsis or aftermarket manual that actually explains things. When the XLT and DFX came along, anything to do with the Eagle was dropped and forgotten.

But the detctor has promise.

I bought mine new in 1989 ( Eagle II sl pro) My machine runs perfect. I have hip mounted it, which makes detection all day great..

I used the Eagle Spectrum for 17 years, and if there was a DD coil I'd use it instead of my DFX. In the last 5 years I've owned a Whites XLT, DFX and a Minelab SE and still feel the Eagle can hold with any of them.

SO how about some of those specail programs you guys have cooked up over the years? Anybody have those to share? Or maybe a copy of Jimmy SIerra's booklet on the Eagle, or Daryl Townsley's book?

I used the program that is in Townleys' Eagle II short coarse book almost extensively here in the Midwest. Very sensitive and deep.

Kurt

Welllllll, here's the deal. Everybody talks about "The Book" by Mr. Townsley in hushed and reverent whispers; but since I haven't been able to find one, that does me about as much good as an empty beer can on a hot day....

I do have an email to Mr. T on the off chance that he has an extra copy, so I remain hopeful. In the meantime the hunt goes on, so to speak....

I bought my Eagle II SL in 1991 (new). I have the 600 coil, 950 coil, Big Foot Coil, & the 15 in Hot Head Coil. I love this machine.
I still use it today even though I have a Whites DFX. I also own the other Whites machines. The Eagle is a deep machine. When you
get it set to reject/accept what you want you'll love it. When it says penny, nickle, dime, etc, etc, that is what you've got. I will never
get rid of my Eagle.

I too have the 600 Blue Max to go with the 950. I DO like the Eagle, although it is a tad heavy. But not so much more than, say, my Garrett GTP 1350. I can live with it.
It is accurate, as you say, and I like the preset programs. I also like the editability of the programs. I use the beach program mostly, unless I'm out in the boondocks, when I switch to relic/PP.
I think it has the potential for deep finds, although I haven't proven that to myself yet with anything astonding.
I have come to consider it a 'field and woods' detector at this stage - not a bad thing.
Hopefully, I will soon get the 'shortcourse' by Daryl Townsley and that may open up some more doors to the Eagle. Yep, its pretty good' un

i bought a eagle new in 91.i still use it everynow and then.i still thinks it the best detector out there for finding the older silver coins.

Thanks for the Eagle INFO you All, Yes I think its a good unit, MickFin

This the original hip mount the White's sold. The arm cuff broke so I replaced it with piece of PVC thin wall pipe. One strap goes the shoulder and the other goes around the waist. Or you can just hook the detector to a utility belt with snaps to the D rings.

Gary Thanks for the #s your the Man, Mic

I put the Eagle on my left side and swing the coil with my right arm. I use a nail apron most of the time. If I use a utility belt I side the belt pack around to the front where I store my gloves, pinpointer and digging knife.
