Eagle Spectrum

Hello everyone. I am a proud owner of an M6 and I love the detector. It fits me like a glove. However I have a friend that has an Eagle Spectrum that I am buying to have as a collector item and as a backup. Its in pristine condition except the backlight is out. No problem because I dont hunt at night anyway.I bought an Eagle Spectrum new in the early 90s and didnt know much about detecting then and eventually sold it not knowing its capabilities. I guess I am just wanting opinions on the Eagle Spectrum and is it a good choice for a backup. Its frequency is 6.59 and the M6 is 14. I know the M6 is great on coins and jewelry with its 14 khz frequency but the Eagle should fair a little better on coins with its low frequency. Any opinions or advice is appreciated. Thanks

Although i dont own a Eagle Spectrum i have used one in the past and it is a lovely machine to use,how good are they one found the world famous Staffordshire Saxon hoard within the last 5 years over here in the UK and netted the detectorist and land owner a multi 7 figure payout, although that does not mean that you will find anything of course but that is one of its claim to fame.

A reliable work horse and rare to find one in good condition if its in pristine condition i would snap his hand off,at the right price of course.

The Spectrum was the predecessor to the XLT and is a great machine. I really liked mine but it was a little heavy with the C cell batteries. I converted it to aa rechargeables that helped a lot. I loved the quarter tone on that machine and it left no doubt. It requires a fast swing to get good depth but works really well.
