Come across a White's Eagle Spectrum in absolute mint cond. Ol' boy bought it years ago used it a little then put it away for the last few decades lol Came with the Standard 9.5 coil, Blue Max 800 and a Blue Max 4x6 DD Shooter. Gave him $330 for the lot. I didn't know too much about these machines, but have read on the forums they were/are still great machines, so I figured what the heck and bought it. Too bad it doesn't use AA, but I guess this ol girl came out long before AA batteries lol so that being the case I headed on down to Sears and got the required amount of Die Hard Batteries this thing uses. I've been playing with it, figuring out the programs, settings etc..since it has no knobs on the box. I did come across a program on one of the forums for getting deep coins and figured I would put it in one of the two custom programs, if for anything just to go thru all the steps to get more familiar with the machine. Did all that and thought I would give her an air test. I realize this is only an "air test" and not real life out in the dirt etc, but I was amazed. What makes it more amazing is that I decided to get a new detector, just to go out with my two dogs and find some coins. So I got a Fisher F4 and a Garrett GTI 1500. Will decide which one I like using and sell the other. Anyhow air tested them and they pretty much did the standard 8-12" depending on the coin and size. When I air tested the Eagle, I was reaching out (with a quarter and Morgan Dollar) 24" + . At that distance I was still getting a audible noise. It was easily reaching out that far and still picking them up. Couldn't believe this old Whites metal detector in air test was easily reaching out twice the distance then both my new machines. I was using the standard 9.5 coil. Sure amazed me. I think I will keep her.
I contacted Whites and gave them the serial # and the machine was manufactured in Sept. 1989.
