Was thinking of trading my Eagle Spectrum for a Whites 6t. Would I lose much performance? I love the Eagle I'm just not fond of the C-Batteries. I can get generic aa batteries at my local dollar store so that's why I was thinking of trading for a 6t. Any opinions appreciated. Jason
Same problem with c cell batteries for my beloved Eagle Spectrum which I have had since they were first introduced. Went to Amazon.com and bought c cell adapter sleeves or shells which makes it possible to use AA batteries in my Eagle. Have not noticed any significant loss of battery use life using the converted AA vs the C's.
On my Silver Eagle....little brother to Spectrum XLT....I use Tenergy NiMH 5000Mah rechargeables. Get like 15-20 hr's or more. The charge really holds up. Go to Amaz*n to check them out. Not that expensive either. I think White's original C cell Ni-Cad rechargeables were only 1800Mah.
High,
5000mAh equals 5Ah - that is what a small lead-acid motorcycle Battery puts out.
In respect to a tiny C-cell, this is definitely an advertising gimmic printed on Batteries made in China and absolutely unrealistic.
If you use 4 such Batteries, you would have a total of 20 Ah so you could theoretically run your detector for about a week non-stop.
I find that very hard to believe.
High,
They are made in China. And probably re-packaged in the USA.

Their NiMH D-cells are supposed to have 10 000 mAh - which amounts to 10 Ah.
Claims like that I find extremly unreliable - welcome to Utopia.
Lead-acid batteries are low-efficency and most require about 40% of their capacity to be used for back-up energy storage to prevent battery from pre-maturely dying. It's the nature of lead-acid technology. Thus they require a larger physical size than Nimh batteries. So yes, a NiMh of smaller physical size can equal the output of a larger lead-acid battery.
I am reading in the battery pack are Made in China but is a good brand name (Energizer) with 2,500 mAh each battery, I think could have good performance. HH Jorgevc
Sanyo Eneloop batteries (AA) are made in Japan.....Powerex (various sizes) are made in Taiwan. In case you have concerns about buying chinese batteries. I use both mfg's and am satisfied with their performance.
