Eagle, Shield, Flag & U.S.A.?

Howdy--

I dug this item over the week end and my first thought was that it was a compact lid. After wiping some of the dirt of it though, I noticed that there was no hinge and it had a patriotic theme. Also, around the perimeter there is a series of what appears to be random letters. It is made of copper and measures 1.5" in diameter. Any ideas as to what it is? Thanks! Best of luck and...

Don't know, but that is really cool!

Is there anything on the back? I don't think it's real old. The number of stars showing on the bottom of the flag and the block letter U.S.A. look modern in my opinion. Maybe a belt insert.

Thanks timwied. It's one of those "head scratchers". It is one of those unusual finds that make my day. Best of luck to you and...

Thanks for your input Flinthunter. I agree with you; it's probably from 1930 to the early 1960's. I posted a scan of the reverse plus some additional info. Best of luck and...

Civil War Secret Decoder Disc...

Really no idea, but it's a cool find..

Actually, this is a 1940 Radio Orphan Annie decoder. You found the front which has a lip. The back fit inside this. Here are the pictures I found on Tom's Treasures

Great ID Shafer44

Yeah, you were. Actually since the back part is not there, it could be that one too. We do know that it is an Orphan Annie decoder, without the back, we just don't know which. Good deal on your pics and naming also.

Thanks shafer44 and HuntinDog! You nailed it. I'm going to have to go back to that site and see if I can find the back side. I appreciate your help. Best of luck and...
