Eagle mounting or button ???

Hello,

This eagle has a small hole in the middle of the reverse side that appears to be threaded. There could have been writing on the bottom rim that is all but worn away.
What is it? Where did it come from? When did that take place?

Thanks in advance for your time

Looks like something I would see on the flags they put on soldiers grave sites on Veterans Day...Would be on the stick of a flag???

HH,

Hello Trocar and thanks for your input. This eagle is exactly 1" tall. Where was it put on a banjo or drum and what was it's purpose? Could it have held a flag stick?

Thanks again

They were used as tensioners. Im not sure thats what you have but it may be.
The second link shows how they would have been used ,the tensioners they show are sheilds not eagles but are used the same way. I think the eagles were used in the 1860s.
The threaded hole would seem right for a tensioner.
