Eagle II sl

Is an Eagle II SL a good detector? Thinking about buying one. How old are they? Thanks Ron

Have a black eagle 11 S/L 90 basically the grandfather of the XLT...Have to agree with therick one of the best around....without a doubt....Keep in mind the 89 model only has 3 preset modes while the 90 and 90.5 model have 4 and 2 which you can set up to your specs for a total of 6...

Well I won the bid on eBay for the Eagle II SL! I haven't received it yet but the box is "black." Does this mean that I got the better one? Already downloaded the manual. This should be a nice addition to my detector arsenal. My best being the MXT! Ron SDakota

Basically the black S/L eagle had a 89-90-90.5.....90 has 4 modes.CJ..PP..BH..CH and U1 and 2 which you can set up to your spec's and save ..89 mod has 3 modes A..B..C.. and the 90.5 has a minor change or two over the 90 and can't remember the difference which is minor at best..Whites and Technetics had a court battle and the 89 and 90 have different chips due to the courts decision and some say the 89 is a hair deeper..To me the 90 is a superior model over the 89...hope this helps....like a chinese puzzle to set up as its two tiered but you can easily get the hang of it...with practice...

Well it finally came in the mail today and I guess it's a 90 model cause it has four modes. I was surprized how good condition it's in cause it looks almost new. Does anyone know where I can get a video of how to use it? I downloaded the manuals from White's and it really has a lot of functions to master. A video would get me off to a running start. Guess I got spoiled with my MXT. Don't guess my two smaller MXT coils are going to work with it. Guess I'll try and find a 4X6. Thanks, Ron of SDakota

Some dealers have a copy of the video and will rent out., but believe me won't help much. Basically its 2 tiered and like a chinese puzzle to set up...With manual in hand play with the functions and all will start to click. Remember you have two modes that you can save. I basically have one for parks and one for deeper silver. So I just hit U-1 or U-2 and am on my way. Nice part of this unit unlike the XLT changes can be made from top without going into long programs..Being its 15yrs old shows Whites was way ahead of its time....and even today is a nice unit...If I can help E-mail me....

It's a coin magnet. Turn signal bal 1/3 of the way up.use tone id,turn 2 quadrant vdi on( ids iron ). but first download a manuel from whites. It uses most 6.59 khz whites coils(same ones as xlt.

Went to the park this morning to try it out. Just turned it on and balanced on "CJ" and went for it. In thirty minutes I found 20 pennies (no wheaties) and a lot of pull tabs and iron bottle caps. Seems to work very well and I'm just starting to get into the manual. I'm sure that a smaller coil is in the near future for me. I appreciate all the input you guys have given. I think that I will like it every bit as well as my MXT! I was able to get a video from White's and should be here in a couple of days. Ron of SDakota :bouncy:

Hi Rick,
Do you have any suggested programs that I can load up in my "U1 & U2" user programs? This detector has more functions than a stray dog has fleas! Thanks, Ron of SDakota

Most pennies come in low seventies to 77....78-79 its usually a dime...yours might differ a degree or so, but one of the few machines out there to be able to tell..Went out last night and dug 14 dimes and yep got fooled by one penny..No need to dig those 20 pennies..turn on the tone ID and in a short time will know if you have a nickel, dime or quarter without looking at meter..Yep Whites does have a lot of parts for even old machines but thought that video would be tough to own..Very basic video, but should should help your learning period....and covers all facets..Blue Max 600, Black mac 5.3, bullseyeye 5.3 makes a nice small coil but will need a lower rod with a large hole as yours should have the small hole..Pinpointing is a snap with the 9.5 all you have to do is detune and use regular pinpointing as I am not a VCO fan...

I've had the Eagle II SL for a week and am "really" impressed with this 15 year old detector! This detector will do everything except tell you the date of the coin or pluck it out of the ground. This is now my favorite detector for coin hunting. My MXT will probably sit on the back burner for awhile. Bought a Black Max 5.3 and hope it will be here in a week or two. Found about two-hundred fity coins and a diamond solitare ring. I'm not going to have it appraised because it might turn out to be a zirconia and that would be the end of my "diamond" find. It's my "fish" story and I'm sticken to it. :wiggle:

I have a goldfoot coil and I intend to use it with an Eagle II sl 90 detector. Anyone already tried this combination and have any tips or programing for the goldfoot?
I'm new here, but I've been detecting for several years.
Thanks!
