 Hello . Went out MD today at a old farm house that has been burned down with my MXT found this button by a big tree next to the cellar. I don't think it is that old maybe fifty or sixty years. It appears to be holding a anchor maybe NAVY just wondering if anybody could IDENTIFY. THANKS

Check the back mark (if one is present) to date it

nice find, and it has most of its guilding,i'm no expert on button identification, but i'd say it's definitely a naval button.i have a couple simular ones with no where near that amount of guilding! nice HH!

That is one really nice find! :jump:

snake, did you ever find out anything on that button you brought to the hunt??? i was going to post a button chart but it's about the same as the one above...Evan :detecting:

Jake, what I believe you to have is a 1941 and after Navy button. The eagle's head was turned like yours by order of War/Navy Department on May 14, 1941.

Pretty much what you have is a WWII Navy button, which I believe coincides with your initial estimates on the farm's age.

Neat find, bud.

Richard
