Eagle button ID - Odd symbol on shield

New member
At first I thought it was an infantry button but the I looked closer and the bottom of what I thought was an I kind of hooks upward. There is no back only the front. Anybody know what this might be?

Howdy JMorgan--

It is a very interesting find. I checked my copy of Albert's Button Book and I couldn't find anything that is identical. In the production of coins, there are many errors such as , in Lincoln Cents: 1955 Double Die, 1922 plain and 1953 Lib "I"erty. I would speculate that your find is either an "I" button or a "V" button that was produced with an error that quality control missed.
Very nice find!
